Job Summary: Serves meals to guests according to established sequence of service and standards.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Represents Odawa Casino Resort in the most positive manner with internal and external guests to satisfy service expectations. Interacts effectively with a diverse group of guests and Team Members, learns and uses operating practices of the department and the organization.

- Maintains upbeat and positive attitude.
- Greets, welcomes and invites guest back.
- Anticipates our guest’s needs and wants.
- Knows the restaurant’s food and beverage selections inside and out, including coupon and special offers.
- Has knowledge of wine and beverage and ability to recommend and pair wines with foods.
- Polishes silverware, stemware and plate-ware as needed to ensure the table settings are impeccable.
- Works with food runners to ensure proper guest satisfaction.
- Crumbs table as necessary.
- Removes any condiments, salt and pepper shakers and any unnecessary items prior to dessert service from the guest’s table.
- Keeps cart cleaned and stocked for service.
- Uses knowledge to up-sell and suggestive sell.
- Assists management by informing them of guest complaints.
- Presents menu to diner, suggesting dinner courses, appropriate wines, and answering questions regarding food preparation.
- Properly clears tables of all unneeded plates and glassware. (pre-bus)
- Writes order on check or memorizes it.
- Accommodates guest’s time restrictions by giving fast and prompt service.
- Relays order to kitchen and serves courses from kitchen and service bars.
- May garnish and decorate dishes prior to serving.
- Acts as final check of food and drink before they are served to assure quality and consistency.
- Serves patrons according to established sequence of service and specified standards.
- Observes diners, responds to any additional requests and determines when meal has been completed.
- Accurately totals bill and accepts payment or refers patron to cashier.
- Prepares condiments and may write specials on board.
- Inspects establishment and observes workers and patrons to ensure compliance with occupational, health, and safety, standards and local liquor regulations.
- Lets management know when guests are celebrating special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.)
- Adjusts customer complaints concerning service, food, and beverages as instructed.
- Resets table in a timely manner.
- Wipes down table and replaces linens.
- May need to sweep or use Bissel to clean floor.
- Attends all meetings and/or training sessions as required.
- Performs all other duties as assigned within the scope of work.

Minimum Qualifications:
One year experience in fine dining establishment or medium volume food or banquet service. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time with infrequent and brief rest periods, must be able to bend, kneel and reach. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must have good hand to eye coordination. Exposure to loud and continual noise levels and a smoke filled environment. Must maintain confidentiality at all times. Must be flexible with shift and days off. Must be able to meet Odawa Casino Resort internal supervisory or higher, training and education requirements. Must be able to obtain a gaming license in accordance to the regulations established by the LTBB Gaming Regulatory Commission. Must maintain confidentiality at all times. Pre-employment drug testing will apply to all selected applicants receiving an offer of conditional employment.
