Job Summary: The Bartender will provide upbeat and positive friendly, excellent service to every customer who approaches the bar while preparing and pouring drinks for customers and beverage servers.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Represents Odawa Casino Resort in the most positive manner with internal and external guests to satisfy service expectations. Interacts effectively with a diverse group of guests and Team Members, learns and uses operating practices of the department and the organization.

  • Smiles and makes eye contact, greets, welcomes and invites our guests back.


  • Anticipates the needs and wants of our guests.


  • Uses product knowledge to up-sell and suggestive sell.


  • Prepares drinks with proper portions and ingredients.


  • Keeps a neat and clean environment at all times and abides by all health codes.


  • Operates POS (Point of Sale) system, handling all beverage sale transactions.


  • Operates liquor dispensing system as required or utilizes pour measuring device.


  • Maintains respectful control over guests at all times and assists management by informing them of guest complaints.


  • Ability to monitor guest consumption and respond according to TIPS training.


  • Keeps the bar area stocked, cleaned and ready for guests at all times.


  • Operates a cash register, rings in proper amounts and gives guests correct change. Accounts for all cash, charge and hosted sales and maintains integrity of all financial controls and responsibilities.


  • Attends to wait staff needing service at the bar in a quick and efficient manner.


  • Arranges bottles and glasses to make attractive display.


  • Replenishes bar snacks such as chips, pretzels and nuts.


  • Replenishes supplies/cups, spears, napkins, and ice.


  • Maintains inventory control.


  • Completes any side-work, set-up or closing duties as assigned.


  • Attends all meetings and/or training sessions as required.


  • Maintains grooming and appearance according to specified Grooming and appearance policies.


  • Performs all other assigned duties within the scope of work.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Ability to read, write legibly, understand and speak English. Two (2) years bartending or working in the service industry. Knowledge of Micros and bar equipment. Must be able to anticipate customer needs, and expectations. Flexibility with available shifts and days off preferred (shifts often include nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed). Responsible for following established departmental procedures and all applicable laws and show responsibility by practicing methods that were taught through our TIPS program. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to bend, kneel and reach. Must be able to be on feet for long periods of time. Ensures accuracy when counting down cash registers. Must be able to meet Odawa Casino Resort internal training requirements. Must maintain confidentiality at all times. Must be able to meet Odawa Casino Resort internal training requirements and be able to obtain a key gaming license in accordance to the regulations established by the LTBB Gaming Regulatory Commission. Pre-employment drug testing will apply to all selected applicants receiving an offer of conditional employment.
